In addition to tiles, glue and tools, the right grout is required to lay tiles in swimming pools and underwater areas. Customers have a choice of different types of pool & amp; grout. Underwater areas. Not every mortar is suitable for every area of ??application. Choosing the perfectly suitable mortar is important for the durability of tiles in underwater areas.
Which grout is right for underwater areas?
Which grout is best suited for laying in underwater areas will determine the future load, the type and composition of the tile, the substrate and the type of joint. Normal grout, flexible grout and grout matched to the joint width are offered.
Normal grout
Normal grout does not guarantee water impermeability. It is designed so that it can be used for simply grouting tiles. Furthermore, it can only be used for grouting on a rigid substrate (no elastic vibrations).
Flexible grout
For water-impermeable grouting, mortar with elasticizing plastics must be used. The contained plastics close the pores. They also have the task of ensuring that the joint can absorb tensile stresses without tearing. Water-impermeable joint mortar can be clearly identified by the imprint on the packaging.
The tensile stresses mentioned arise from movements within the overall structure of joints, glue, tiles and the substrate. Causes for these movements can be temperature fluctuations, weather influences or a vibrating surface. Material expansion can be caused by heating screed, for example. Suitable grout must therefore react elastically so that no cracks form. These products are offered as "Flexible Grout" or with similar names.
Some of the grouts for swimming pools and underwater areas offered in the shop are suitable for thin and thick bed laying. There are differences in the products offered in terms of accessibility, tile material, joint width, processing temperature, pot life and color. Grout can be ordered in many colors for visually appealing grouting. The products offered are temperature-resistant between -20 and +80 degrees Celsius. The time until it can be walked on varies between 6 and 24 hours, depending on the product and type of installation.
Requirements for the subsoil
Joints must be free of any separating substances and clean. After laying, all joints should be scraped out to tile thickness.
